This is one of Martin and Lucia's wonderful antique brass, or bronze, jewelry necklace pieces, possibly made for a gown, done in the 1930's, 40s, or 50s. This particularly beautiful necklace, in the Art Deco tradition, has twelve tubular bronze links, very beautifully designed and finely cast, to join thirteen circular balls.
